Di uno scrittore di uomini misteriosi

Upon their introduction in 1952, the Nelson Ball Bubble Pendant by Herman Miller were an exciting collection of lamps that proposed a new kind of material application, using a soft plastic originally made for the military. The Nelson Ball Bubble Pendant is made of this material, which is vigorously spray-coated around a steel wire frame to make the round shape. The slightly visible wire frame is integral to the design, which ultimately creates soft ambient light once lit.

First designed in 1947, the George Nelson Bubble Lamp Collection has stood the test of time. The simple structural shapes with the innovative use of taut plastic over fine steel wire were born from George Nelson's frustration to buy a Swedish-made silk lamp which produced a soft light. This unique use of shape and material produces a diffused light that is free of glare while offering an abundance of illumination.
